What is the “Ride For Rally Point?”.

Let’s start with the name. The Infantry Handbook defines a “Rally Point” as a “place designated by the leader where the platoon moves to reassemble and reorganize if it becomes dispersed”. For a combat arms enlisted person, an “RP” represents a known point of order. When everything is falling apart and your plan is SNAFU’d… Get to the Rally Point. It is a place where, in the midst of total chaos, we will receive new orders. Hopefully, we will have time to lick our wounds, rehydrate, and count our ammo at the Rally Point. But at the very least, we’ll get a good count on our brothers. That’s why we are RP-1, Texas and this is the Ride For Rally Point, #RFRP.

So as you saw on the main page, our vision is to build a homestead where veterans who have nowhere to be can learn regenerative farming practices while focusing on their education, growth, and mental health. We want to put that alongside an equine facility where veterans can connect with horses through daily exercises, and perhaps learn what it takes to earn a living in the livestock industry. There’s a lot more to it than that, but the point is, we needed to get this vision in front of people.

It took a lot of brainstorming for our Founder to finally realize that Trooper, the Spanish Barb he had raised since birth, was just coming of age and had matured enough to start riding. Once a network of people was rallied, maps were drawn, and a plan was mostly drawn out, our Founder and his family set out to travel 1,000 miles around the state on horseback. Well, he would ride, while his wife, newborn son, and the occasional highly motivated volunteer would ride in the Support Rig with all the essentials. The Ride For Rally Point met with dozens of communities and their organizations along the way. There are 3 main intentions of the RFRP:

1. Spread awareness for veterans' issues. This is not limited to homelessness but includes a host of topics from mental health, substance use, suicidality, criminal trends... The list goes on because all of these contribute to the problem. We'll do this wherever an organization will help us gather concerned citizens.

2. Organize meetings of concerned organizations, governments, and/or businesses along the route to attend a roundtable discussion. There, we'll discuss the veteran issues impacting their community. The goal is that through the points made, lessons shared, and relationships built during the meeting, they may come away with some ideas to improve the conditions for veterans in their areas.

3. Raise money to launch RP-1, Texas. This is done through attracting eyeballs. Once all the right eyeballs see our vision and hear our mission, it will come together, and we will improve our condition.

In addition to our online store and secure user-friendly donation options, we have built an Amazon Registry for the Ride For Rally Point, #RFRP to #EndVeteranHomelessness. Click the link to learn how YOU can keep #Trooper and all the #RideForRallyPoint moving down the trail!

It all began with an idea. Now Trooper and Jeremy are voyaging 1,000 miles between November and December of 2022 to make a dream a reality. The land to build upon, the housing, agricultural infrastructure, and the support operations will all need funding, not to mention the RFRP fundraiser itself has its own list of needs to be met.
